Two of the most iconic monsters in cinema history could square off in the future as there are plans to bring a King Kong vs. Godzilla film to the big screen. According to Deadline, Legendary Pictures are set to move their upcoming film Kong: Skull Island from Universal Studios to Warner Bros in a bid to unite their two existing monster properties under one studio roof.
To say that a film which sees King Kong take on Godzilla could be epic would be a massive understatement as witnessing the enormous ape go toe to toe with the giant reptile using today’s special effects would be indescribably insane!
Kong and Godzilla have met before in 1962’s King Kong vs. Godzilla which saw Kong come out victorious.
If the two monsters are set for a modern day rematch, the true winners will definitely be the viewers.
Kong: Skull Island is set for a March 10, 2017 release and is reported to star Samuel L Jackson, Tom Hiddlestone (Loki in the Marvel Studio’s films), John C. Reilly (Step Brothers), Brie Larson (Trainwreck) as well as Straight Outta Compton duo Jason Mitchell and Corey Hawkins.
The sequel to 2014’s Godzilla is slated for a 2018 release and will once again be directed by Gareth Edwards.
Any King Kong vs. Godzilla outing would be released after those two films.
